Spicy Potato Chips with Sesame seeds

Potatoes are deep fried and then tossed in spices and coated with sesame seeds. These are crispy and spicy.

Ingredients 

  • 4 medium Sized potatoes
  • Oil for Deep frying
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • Salt as required 

For Tempering

  • 1 Tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Black mustard seeds
  • 1 Green Chilli finely chopped
  • 2 Tablespoon sesame seeds

Directions
1. Peel potatoes and cut them in to thick chips. Make sure you cut them in equal sizes and uniform in thickness. This is to ensure even cooking

                                  
2. Heat oil for deep frying. Fry the chips in batches for 5 minutes. Drain the chips on a paper towel

                                  
3. In a small bowl, put the chips and sprinkle turmeric powder and red chilli powder and salt. Toss gently to coat the spices in all chips

                                        

4. In a small frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon oil. Add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add green chillies and fry. Then add sesame seeds and fry till they are golden


5. Add the sesame seeds tempering to the potatoes an toss everything together
6. Before serving reheat the mixture for 5 minutes in a pre heated oven at 200 C / 400 F
