Creamy Potato Green peas Curry - perfect accompaniment for flatbread / Pilau



  • 1 Medium Sized onion
  • 1 Tomato
  • 2 Large Potatoes
  • 1/2 Cup Green peas (Fresh or Frozen ; Thaw if frozen)
  • 5 Curry leaves (optional )
  • 2 Tablespoon Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 3 Tablespoon Fresh Cream / Sour Cream
  • salt as required
  • Chopped cilantro leaves for garnish 


1. Peel of onion; chop them into big chunks; In a food processor , puree onion into fine paste. Set aside
2. Chop tomatoes in to  big chunks and puree them in food processor. Set aside
3. Peel off potatoes and cut them into big cubes and keep them in a bowl with tap water
4. In a pan, add oil. When the oil is hot, add curry leaves
5. Then add onion paste and sauté in the oil for 5 min in medium flame
6. Add tomato puree and sauté for 5 more min
7. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and stir well
8. Add potatoes with 1 cup water to the onion tomato mixture and give it a nice stir. Add salt and cover it with a lid and cook on high flame for 10 min
9. When the potatoes are cooked , add fresh cream along with green peas and reduce the flame to low
10. Cook for 5 more min and switch of the flame
11. Add chopped cilantro leaves for garnish and serve warm
