Inspiration for this recipe is from Chef Vikas Khanna's Twist of taste TV show on Fox Traveller. Fruit basket is made of All purpose flour, baking powder, yogurt and salt. It is then shaped in the form of basket weave and deep fried. You can serve your favourite fruits inside this cute bowl. This bowl looks very cute, attractive and it tastes crispy and crunchy.
1. In a mixing bowl, add all purpose flour, baking powder, salt and cumin seeds
2. Add spoonful of yogurt and knead the dough until it comes together as a soft ball. No need to add water while kneading the dough
3. Set aside the dough for 10 minutes
4. Roll the dough into a large circle approximately to large chapathi / roti / tortilla - about 8 or 9 inch diameter circle. I just sprinkled all purpose flour and rolled it. You can place the dough over the parchment paper and then roll so that it will be easy for you to lift the weave pattern for deep frying
5. Cut thin stips of the rolled dough using a pizza cutter. Now shape the dough in the form of weave. I followed this link to shape the dough. I made 3 circular weave pattern with the dough
6. Now using a 4 inch circular cutter, cut a circle from the center of the weave pattern we created with the dough
7. Using the pizza cutter, gently lift the circular weave pattern and place it on a metal strainer
8. In a pan. wok , heat oil for deep frying. When the oil is hot gently drop the metal strainer with the dough in the hot oil
9. Place one more strainer or metal spoon over the dough so that the basket doesn't change shape while deep frying
10. Fry until the dough basket is golden and crispy. Remove from oil and place it on paper towel
11. Fry the remaining baskets in the oil and place them on paper towel
12. Toss chopped fruits with honey and pinch of salt
13. Serving : Place a bread bowl on the serving platter. Fill the bowl with honey coated fruits
