Honey Ginger Soy glazed chicken fingers

Honey ginger soy glazed chicken fingers are sweet, spicy, tangy and perfect finger food / appetizer. These are so easy to make and bursting with flavor. Chicken fingers are crispy and perfectly seasoned. Honey soy glaze is absolutely delicious and pairs well with the crispy chicken fingers.
 
Chicken breast strips are coated with spiced flour mixture and shallow fried in the pan. Then they are tossed in sweet and spicy honey ginger soy glaze. Best served as an appetizer with fried rice and gravy.
 
 

Ingredients

To Make chicken fingers

  • 2 chicken breasts (weighing about 400 Grams ) cut into long thin strips
  • a pinch of turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 Teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 1 Teaspoon crushed garlic chopped finely
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon corn flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon dried Italian seasoning ( mix of dried thyme, rosemary and oregano)
  • a big pinch of red chilli flakes
  • salt to taste
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil to shallow fry chicken strips

For the Honey Soy glaze

  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 red onion chopped finely
  • 1 Teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 1 Tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon chilli sauce
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 Teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • finely chopped cilantro leaves  / spring onions greens for garnish

Directions

1. Cut chicken breast pieces into long thin strips
2. Add chopped ginger, garlic, turmeric powder to the chicken pieces and mix gently to coat chicken pieces with ginger & garlic. Season with salt. Set aside
3. In a pan heat oil to shallow fry chicken pieces
4. Meanwhile, in a  large plate, add all purpose flour, corn flour. Season the flour with Italian seasoning, salt, chilli flakes
5. Now add chicken strips into the seasoned flour mixture. Toss gently to coat chicken with flour on all sides. Drip off the excess flour
6. When the oil is hot, reduce the flame to medium and add 6 to 8 chicken strips to the pan and shallow fry until they are light golden. Flip sides and shallow fry on all sides
7. Remove chicken from oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel
8. Shallow fry the remaining chicken pieces in the oil and set aside
9. In an another pan, heat 1 tablespoon oil. When the oil is hot, add onion and fry until they are soft. Add ginger and fry for a minute
10. Add honey, soy sauce, chilli sauce and mix everything
11. Season with salt and pepper
12. Add the fried chicken strips to the pan and coat chicken with honey soy glaze
13. Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves or spring onions greens
14. Serve hot with your favourite dip. I served it as a side with fried rice and mixed vegetable gravy
